Getting a train from Hue to Hoi An

View of a misty and rainy Hai Van Pass in Vietnam from a train

    Location: Vietnam

I know, I know ANOTHER blog post about train travel. We thought we would put together a post about our experience getting from Hue to Hoi An via train/bus because when we were researching it was something that was lacking, especially the change in transport once you get off the train in De Nang. Many people opt for the ease of the plane journey from Hue to De Nang or even a long bus journey, but for us the train was kinder to our budget.

Ninh Binh’s Hidden Gem, Van Long

    Location: Vietnam

We initially heard about Van Long from a TV show; ‘Life Without Limits: Vietnam‘, that was on the BBC before we set off on our travels. When we started planning our rough route through Vietnam we were too intrigued not to have it on our list as Van Long is a relatively undiscovered gem in the Ninh Binh Province that is also known as ‘Ha Long Bay on land’ to most. Blonde girl climbs tower in Copenhagen Denmark on city break

If you have been following us for a while you may know that we love a city break. As we both work, it can be hard to get time off work or find the time to travel long distance. So for us, city breaks are ideal! Not only do you get to see new little bits of the world but you also get to experience the hustle and bustle of a city other than your own.

There are so many cities that are on our wish-list (Prague, Vienna and Amsterdam to name a few) and luckily for us the UK is a short distance away from many European cities that don’t cost an arm and a leg to get to. City breaks further afield however mean that you need a few extra days to explore which isn’t always possible! So the likes of New York are special city breaks that we rarely get to enjoy. We are trying to tick-off the ever growing list by exploring, drinking and excessively eating in all these new places and are slowly making our way through. Here are some of our tips for planning the perfect city break.
